Sad Times at Bryant-Denny

So we came out of last week with a "W" and this week we cannot finish. We were actually lucky to get the win last week and to be honest shouldn't have won last night, which anyone who was watching has already seen, we didn't. Our attacking on offense or defense was to be seen coming into the game but I guess what ever Mark Richt closed practices for this week worked out, you could see the uncertainty on the defense early in the first quarter. Waving hands around, throwing signals like they were landing an F-16 from the movie Top Gun. We finally got settled on defense, for the most part, but our offense never clicked. What is with, in my opinion, one of the greatest QB's right now, John Parker Wilson. He was better in his first year than now. Our strong points this year are supposed to be offense. We have the youngest coordinator in the league, but also the one that had a top scoring offense last year at Rice. Our O-line is pretty good and John Parker is getting pretty good coverage, but the inaccuracy, the fumbles- that has to stop. He is too good of a QB to continue this path. We need a top QB to command our offense. He is the leader and has leadership abilities, hence Hoover High School. I believe the 2 state rings he received has given him the ability to compete and lead this team into the realm of elite status we have known, but have missed for the past, well, 20 some odd years, not counting great Coach Stallings. Our own mistakes and ineffectiveness to stay consistent on both sides of the ball have hurt us the most and will continue. As Coach Saban said, " You can't play a game like we did and execute like we did during the game and win, not against a good team like Georgia." Looking at our up and coming scheduled teams to play, it isn't going to get any easier. Execution is a must for four quarters of play, not just the first half and then a hurry-up offense to win in 8 seconds. If we play up to our caliber we can win and win effectively, no need for miraculous come backs! We need to get back to our tough play, sharp offense, and open up the potential that this Alabama team has to offer!!
